Our work with other organisations
Industry
In our consulting work with industry, we integrate scientific expertise with the knowledge and experience of management and the workforce to develop practical, effective strategies for improving shift work and fatigue management. Where appropriate, we also seek to advance scientific knowledge and professional practice by publishing innovative work and findings in the peer‑reviewed scientific literature.
We design and deliver training programmes on shift work and fatigue management for workers, managers, governance groups, and others whose roles influence fatigue‑related risk within an organisation, including schedulers and health and safety personnel.
Government and Regulatory Agencies
We provide independent, evidence‑based scientific advice to government agencies and regulators, and are actively involved in the development of national and international regulatory frameworks for fatigue management. Our work has made significant contributions to fatigue regulation in commercial aviation and the maritime sector.
Accident Investigation and Expert Testimony
We have extensive experience investigating the role of fatigue in work‑related accidents and safety‑critical incidents. Our work has included independent investigation and advisory roles for agencies such as WorkSafe New Zealand, Maritime New Zealand, the New Zealand Police Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit, the Serious Crash Investigation Unit, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission.
We also provide independent expert testimony in fatigue‑related motor vehicle and workplace accident cases, including evidence for the District and Coroner’s Courts. Our expertise is grounded in rigorous sleep and fatigue science and applied within legal and regulatory frameworks.
