Educational opportunities

Master's and Doctoral Study

We offer supervision for motivated and capable students at Honours, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, as well as mentorship for Postdoctoral fellows. Our students work closely with experienced researchers in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and are supported to develop strong research skills, confidence, and independence.

We welcome enquiries from prospective students interested in completing a research thesis under our supervision and encourage early discussion to explore alignment of interests and opportunities.

Undergraduate Courses

We are an experienced provider of university teaching in sleep and circadian science and established the first undergraduate courses in this field in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our undergraduate course introduces students to the science of sleep and circadian rhythms, and their importance for health, safety, performance, and wellbeing. It provides a strong foundation for students interested in applied health, psychology, human performance, or further study in sleep and fatigue research.

Postgraduate Courses

We offer two postgraduate courses in sleep and circadian science. One course focuses on sleep and circadian science in relation to health and healthcare, while the other focuses on the application of sleep and circadian science to fatigue risk management. The courses are suitable both for students seeking to deepen existing knowledge and for those from other disciplines who are new to the field.

Other educational opportunities

Our Centre has a long history of delivering educational programmes and workplace training on sleep, circadian rhythms, shift work, and workplace fatigue for a diverse range of agencies, organisations and industry groups. We have extensive experience tailoring education and training to the needs of different audiences, ensuring content is accessible, relevant, and directly applicable to workplace and organisational contexts. We are particularly committed to sharing sleep, circadian, and fatigue science in clear, practical ways that support understanding and enable learners to apply this knowledge meaningfully in their own roles and settings.
